CIPD Intermediate Certificate / Diploma in Human Resource Development

The Intermediate Certificate and Diploma in Human Resource Development are suitable for those who:

Each programme develops the professional knowledge and skills required in HR Development to perform effectively in specialist roles associated with the design, delivery and evaluation of Learning and Development.
What is the difference between the Certificate and Diploma?
Both programmes consist of a range of core and optional units. Each unit carries a number of credits. If you wish to study for the Certificate programme, you will study three core units plus optional units; you will complete four core units for the Diploma plus additional optional units.

**Certificate in Human Resource Development only
To achieve the Certificate in Human Resource Development you need to complete the 3 core units (14 credits) and 18 credits from optional units. Your optional units must include a minimum of 12 credits from Group A with a maximum of 6 credits allowed from Group B. A total of 32 credits.
To achieve the Diploma in Human Resource Development you need to complete the 4 core units (20 credits) and 24 credits from optional units. Your optional units must include a minimum of 18 credits from Group A with a maximum of 6 credits allowed from Group B. A total of 44 credits.
How do we deliver the programme?
We offer the Certificate and Diploma programmes on a flexible basis. You will be allocated an Assessor to work with you throughout. To achieve the units you will undertake a range of activities including gathering work-based evidence, professional discussion and assignments; there are no exams to take.
As part of the programme, we will also support you in undertaking assessment for membership of the CIPD at Associate level, if appropriate.
What is the duration of the programme?
You will have up to 18 months, but you can complete more quickly if you wish.
Where will I meet with my Assessor?
Usually at your workplace, but meetings can also be at an alternative location. You may also have 'virtual' meetings by phone, email or Skype. You will have an initial induction meeting and then up to 8 meetings or 'virtual' meetings for the Certificate programme and up to 10 for the Diploma.

You will also be required to take up Student membership of the CIPD for which there is an additional cost.
How can I progress further?
On completion of the Certificate qualification, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake top-up units to achieve the Diploma in Human Resource Development.
Alternatively, you can move on to complete the Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Development.
