Professional assessment of competence is a route to Chartered Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development for HR and HRD professionals.

The programme recognises your experience against the CIPD's professional standards.

Entry requirements

5 years management-level experience

Including a minimum of 3 years' recent management-level experience in HR or people development.

What you have to do...

To complete the programme you must meet the requirements of all four fields of the professional standards:

The Electives and People Management and Development...

Involves providing a personal statement for each module, explaining how you have met the standards and the provision of evidence to support this.

Leadership and Management...

Normally, candidates can be awarded advanced standing against Leadership and Management, which means you provide a summary of your experience against the standards.

Applied Personnel and Development...

This field requires you to complete a Management Research Report and to provide a record of your Continuing Professional Development.
