Professional assessment of competence is a route to Chartered Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development for HR and HRD professionals.
The programme recognises your experience against the CIPD's professional standards.
Entry requirements
5 years management-level experience
Including a minimum of 3 years' recent management-level experience in HR or people development.
What you have to do...
To complete the programme you must meet the requirements of all four fields of the professional standards:
- People Management and Development
- The Generalist/Specialist Electives
- Leadership and Management
- Applied Personnel and Development

The Electives and People Management and Development...
Involves providing a personal statement for each module, explaining how you have met the standards and the provision of evidence to support this.
Leadership and Management...
Normally, candidates can be awarded advanced standing against Leadership and Management, which means you provide a summary of your experience against the standards.
Applied Personnel and Development...
This field requires you to complete a Management Research Report and to provide a record of your Continuing Professional Development.
How we deliver the programme...
We offer three approaches to the programme:
- Candidate-led, which requires you to provide written personal statements of your experience. You have up to 2 years to complete the programme by this approach.
- Adviser-led, where personal statements are compiled by yourself and your adviser during more intensive support sessions over a period of 9 to 12 months.
- Executive Assessment, an intensive fast-track approach which involves an Assessor visiting your workplace, professional discussions and evidence being seen in situ. The workplace assessment can be completed in about 6 days.
We have a network of advisors/assessors around the UK, so whichever approach to PAC you choose you will be given the support of a local personal advisor.

From £3750 depending on your chosen approach and location.
This includes:
- Registration with the CIPD
- Advice and assessment
- Internal and external verification
The cost does not include membership of the CIPD which you will also be required to take up and maintain.
Progression...
Provides progression onto a fast-track MSc in Strategic Personnel and Development.
