The unit provides standards for the internal verification of assessment processes within a Centre accredited by an awarding body.

The responsibilities of an internal verifier include...

• Supporting assessors and ensuring that they are competent
• Managing assessor workload
• Monitoring the work of assessors
• Identifying assessor training needs and ensuring that training is provided
• Ensuring that assessors meet the requirements of the awarding body
• Liaising with the awarding body and monitoring information flow between assessors and the awarding body
• Ensuring that awarding body requirements are met and quality assurance processes are put in place and maintained
• Preparing for and managing visits to the Centre by the External Verifier
• Record keeping
