CIPD Foundation Award in Human Resource Essentials
Who is the programme aimed at?
The Award in Human Resource Essentials is aimed at Human Resource Officers, Advisors and Administrators and those who are just beginning a career in HR or who have experience at this level. The programme is also suitable for those wishing to move into the HR profession. The Award provides the opportunity to study bite-sized modules taken from the full Foundation level Certificate and Diploma in Human Resource Practice.

The content of the qualification is relevant and practical. You will be able to apply your learning back into the workplace straight away.

What units will I study?
The full list of units is set out below. Which of these you study will depend on your study mode: Work-based, Taught.
Each unit carries a number of credits and to achieve the Award you need to complete 2 to 12 credits.

How will the programme be delivered?
For the work-based programme, you will be allocated an Assessor to work with you throughout. To achieve your chosen unit/s you will undertake a range of activities including gathering work-based evidence, completing assignments, and writing personal statements; there are no exams to take.
The taught programme is delivered at our Head Office in Doncaster, close to Robin Hood Airport. Lunch and refreshments are included and there are hotel facilities close by if needed. The length of your programme depends on the unit/s you have chosen but the programme format is designed to minimise the amount of time that you need to be away from your workplace, requiring you to attend full-day or half-day workshops for each unit.
You will be provided with a core text book and an on-line resource site as well as comprehensive support material given to learners at each workshop. We keep our group numbers small so that you get the support and attention you require. You will also be given the opportunity to attend Guided Learning days to work on your assignments and supporting activities, along with accessing tutorial support.
What is the duration of the programme?
The duration depends on your chosen study mode and the number of unit/s you have chosen to complete:
- Work-based – up to 12 months
- Taught – depends on the number of units you have chosen to complete
How will the qualification be assessed?
Assessment will be by a range of activities including assignments; there are no exams to take.
How can I progress further?
On completion of this qualification, you will be offered the opportunity to carry the credits you have achieved towards completing the Foundation Certificate or Diploma in Human Resource Practice or you may wish to consider undertaking one of our Intermediate or Advanced qualifications in Human Resource Management.
