CIPD Foundation Certificate in Human Resource Practice
Who is the programme aimed at?
The Certificate in Human Resource Practice is aimed at those in roles such as HR Officer, HR Advisor and HR Administrator, as well as individuals starting their career in HR or with some experience in a role of this level wanting to complete an accredited qualification. Both programmes also suit individuals with a career goal of moving into the HR profession.

What units will I study?
The list of units is given in the table below. The units you study will be determined by your choice of study mode: Work-based or Taught.
Each unit has a credit value and to complete the Certificate you need to undertake sufficient units to give 28 credits.

How will the programme be delivered?
Taking a work-based route means working on a one to one with an allocated Assessor. You will complete a number of activities such as assignments, personal statements and gathering work-based evidence. All assessment is by course work with no exams to take.
The taught programme has workshops which you attend over 9 months at our training centre near Robin Hood Airport in Doncaster. We provide refreshments as well as lunch and there is a hotel within walking distance if required. To keep the time you have to spend away from the workplace to a minimum, the workshops take place once a month.
We provide a text book to support your learning and access to resources on our on-line site; there are also handouts at each workshop. Our group numbers are small so we can look after you and make sure you get the support you need. The programme includes Guided Learning days with tutorial support and time built in to work on your assignments and complete additional activities to further support your learning.
What is the duration of the programme?
The length of the programme depends on how you choose to study:
- Work-based – up to 12 months
- Taught – 9 months
How will the qualification be assessed?
You will be assessed through assignments and there are no exams.
How can I progress further?
Once you have completed your qualification, there is opportunity to complete additional units to top-up to the Foundation Diploma in HR Practice, or the chance to progress to one of our Intermediate or Advanced qualification in HRM.
