Choose Your Qualification Pathway

CIPD qualifications have 2 pathways to choose from: Human Resources and Learning and Development, both of which provide key knowledge and skills that will enable you to give support and advice to managers and others within your organisation, develop your own career and achieve a professional level of membership of the CIPD.

Individuals who are taking a more generalist HR career pathway often choose to study a qualification in this field, just the same way that those specialising in L&D might choose this as their study pathway. Having said that, because the qualifications are so flexible, it is possible to study modules from the opposite pathway as part of your chosen qualification. This gives you the opportunity to gain insight into specialist areas of HR or Learning and Development and to further enhance your knowledge and skills.

The flexibility extends to also being able to study standalone modules and gain an Award in a specialist subject at Foundation, Intermediate or Advanced level. This is great for those who might be specialising in areas such as Organisational Development, Employment Law or Consultancy Skills for example.
