cHRysos HR Bake Sale for VHL Awareness Month!
May marked VHL Awareness Month and the cHRysos HR team got together to listen to a talk about VHL at their Team Away Day. They baked some amazing cakes and raised £150 for the VHL UK/Ireland Charity in the process!
The fundraiser sought to raise awareness about the disease, support those affected, and contribute to ongoing research efforts. The day brought the team together not only to enjoy some delicious treats, but also to bring awareness to what VHL is and how it affects people.
What is VHL Disease?
VHL is a rare disease that about 1:70,000 people in the UK suffer from – it leads to multiple benign and malignant tumours and cysts on multiple organs of the body throughout the patients’ lifetime. There is currently no cure. The gene that is involved in VHL is also involved in other more common cancers, such as kidney cancer and breast cancer. If researchers can overcome the gene mutation for VHL, they may be able to do the same for other cancers.
What do VHL UK/Ireland do?
VHL UK / Ireland aims to raise funds via fundraising and donations for research and provides information and support for those affected. VHL UK/Ireland advances the education of the public on matters concerning the genetic condition. Team cHRysos are proud to have raised £150 to fund the ongoing research efforts.
