Top Ten Tips for... Considering AI in the Workplace

When we think of Artificial Intelligence, it’s easy to think of robots and far-fetched futuristic technology, but did you know that more and more companies are already embracing and introducing AI to make their current tech smarter? Find out more in our Top Ten Tips...

1. Learn what AI can do for you

If you’ve been on the lookout for ways to help your business stay up to date with modern technology trends, you may have already heard all about AI and how it is being embraced by a variety of organisations. However, before you take that first step, it could be a good idea to take some time to discover exactly what modern AI can do for you. From chatbots to data gathering and automated customer service, AI is a software that, when used effectively, can streamline operations and make your business more efficient.

2. Establish your goals

Now that you know a little more about what AI can do, let’s take a look at your business and your specific objectives. What exactly are you hoping to achieve by implementing AI? Do you want to automate some of your time-consuming, repetitive tasks? Perhaps you’re looking to improve your recruitment processes, or enhance customer experience? Take a look at your current processes and evaluate where there is space to streamline the systems or add value for staff and customers.

3. Choose the right systems for you

There are a wide variety of AI solutions on the market, all with vastly different capabilities and price points. From chatbots and virtual assistants to natural language processing and machine learning, it’s a good idea to choose a system that aligns with your company and the goals of your business. For example, if you’re hoping to improve your customer support and response times, why not introduce a chatbot?

4. Gather your data

To work effectively, your AI system is likely to require a large amount of data so that it can learn and make predictions. Therefore, it could be a good idea to gather and organise your data beforehand so you can hit the ground running. When developing a data strategy, it’s important to consider factors such as:

  • What data you’ll need
  • How you’ll gather the different types of data
  • How you’ll store and access the data
  • How you’ll adhere to data privacy regulations

5. Start small

Introducing AI into your organisation can seem daunting and overwhelming, so it is a good idea to start small. Why not begin by choosing one single process and introduce the technology there so you can see how it goes on a smaller scale. Once you've got to grips with the system, ironed out any kinks and discovered the benefits and challenges, you can start to introduce the AI to your other processes.

6. Involve the whole team

It’s likely that it won’t just be yourself that uses the new AI technology; therefore you may want to involve your team in this process. Why not ask for their opinions regarding the system and any new processes? This would also be a great opportunity to communicate the benefits of AI and help put their minds at ease if they have any concerns about job security or privacy.

7. Provide sufficient training

It’s important that your team members feel comfortable and confident with the AI technology, especially for those employees who will be working directly with the new processes, so it’s essential to provide sufficient training and support for staff members, particularly for employees whose job roles overlap the most with your AI solution.

8. Monitor your progress

When you get your AI model up and running, you may find that you still have some work to do. Don’t forget to keep checking your processes and monitoring their performance – this way you can ensure everything is working correctly and delivering the expected outcome. By regularly analysing your AI technology, you can see what’s working well, as well as identifying any areas for improvement.

9. Continue to adapt and develop

It’s definitely a good idea to keep tweaking and improving your AI model over time. As you gather more data and your business needs evolve, your AI systems may also need to be refined. Furthermore, AI is a rapidly growing area of technology so you may choose to update your process as more advancements filter down into the world of business.

 10. Celebrate your successes

With an effective AI model in place, hopefully it won’t be long until you start seeing results and reaping the benefits. When this happens, don’t forget to take time to celebrate the wins! Share your successes with the team and continue to showcase the benefits of AI. This will help to further motivate your team, boosting morale and encouraging a culture of growth and innovation.
